Developmental Academy (U9–U12)

U9–U12 DEVELOPMENTAL ACADEMY

The U9-U12 Developmental Academy program is a 10-month (August – May) competitive program for boys and girls in the youngest competitive age group that NPA offers.  The curriculum for the Developmental Academy is centered around the technical aspect of NPA’s Five Focal Points of Player Development. The emphasis in this program is on creating technically proficient, daring, and confident players in a fun and rewarding environment. Teams are chosen based on ability and skill level, but players have the opportunity to move between teams throughout the year if deemed appropriate.

Team training occurs twice weekly with games on weekends. Additional at-home training opportunities come with our partner Techne, which will be available and encouraged. The Developmental Academy teams will participate in two to three tournaments per season. All teams are trained by appropriately licensed, professional club coaches to provide the players with the best possible foundation of skills and knowledge of the game.

Developmental Academy teams are formed after players participate in ID sessions led by NPA Staff Coaches. All players interested in playing in the NPA Developmental Academy program  need to attend one of these ID sessions each year.

Player attendance at all training sessions and games is expected in the NPA Developmental Academy.
